The Speedtest — Global Broadband Speed Test measures your real internet connection speed directly in your browser, reporting your download speed, upload speed, ping (latency) and jitter on a live Ookla-style speedometer. Download speed (in Mbps) shows how fast you can pull data from the internet — streaming, browsing and file downloads; upload speed shows how fast you can send data — video calls, backups and posting content; ping is the round-trip response time in milliseconds, and jitter measures how stable that latency is, which matters for gaming and video calls. Just press GO and the test streams data to and from Hosting Cambodia's servers to give you an accurate, honest reading of your connection right now.
This free tool by Hosting Cambodia is built for anyone who wants to check their broadband or mobile internet across Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and the whole of Cambodia — whether you're on fibre, ADSL or 4G/5G from EZECOM, SINET, Metfone, Cellcard, Smart or any other ISP. Use it to verify you're getting the speed your plan promises, to compare providers before you switch, to troubleshoot slow Wi-Fi, or to prove a connection problem to your provider. No app, no sign-up and no login — the test runs entirely in your browser and works on desktop and mobile. For the most accurate result, connect over a wired cable if you can, pause other downloads and streaming, and run the test two or three times.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good internet speed?
For everyday browsing and HD streaming, 25–50 Mbps download is comfortable. 100 Mbps+ is great for 4K streaming and multiple users, and 300 Mbps+ suits busy households or offices. For video calls and gaming, a low ping (under 50 ms) and low jitter matter more than raw speed. Upload of 10 Mbps+ is plenty for most homes; content creators and remote workers benefit from more.
What do download, upload, ping and jitter mean?
Download is how fast you receive data (streaming, web pages, downloads). Upload is how fast you send data (video calls, backups, uploading files). Ping is the round-trip delay to the server in milliseconds — lower is better. Jitter is how much that delay varies; low jitter means a stable, smooth connection for calls and gaming.
Why is my speed slower than the plan I pay for?
Common causes are Wi-Fi distance and interference, other devices using the connection, an old router, VPNs, or peak-hour congestion. Test again over a wired cable with nothing else running. If a wired test is still far below your plan, capture the result and contact your ISP — Cambodian providers can investigate line or equipment issues.
How much data does the speed test use?
A full test transfers roughly 30–60 MB depending on your connection speed (faster connections move more data in the fixed test window). If you're on a limited mobile data plan, keep that in mind before running repeated tests.
How accurate is this browser speed test?
It streams real data to and from our servers and measures actual throughput, so it closely reflects your true connection. Browser-based tests can read slightly lower than a dedicated app on very fast (gigabit) links, and Wi-Fi, background apps and server distance all affect the number — running it a few times gives the most reliable picture.
